FORUM OF WOMEN IN PUBLIC SECTOR Eastern Region of WIPS was organized REGIONAL MEET held at NALCO, Bhubaneswar on 5th December 2014.. The aim of the Meet was to create awareness of pivotal role played by women employees in their respective organisations as well as in society with the concept of SWACHHA BHARAT.The theme of the meet was “WOMEN IN PURSUIT OF SWACHHA BHARAT”.
The program was inaugurated by Mr.Ansuman Das , CMD of NALCO along with Ms.Arati Devi, Guest speaker, Ms.Amita Saha, President of WIPS ER and Ms.Sanchita Banerjee, Secretary of WIPS ER by lighting of lamp.
Secretary , WIPS ER has given presentation on WIPS Journey for 25 Years. On this occasion Eastern region has arranged the Best Enterprise Award on two broad category of awards - a) Maharatna &Navaratna b) Miniratna and other companies. President , WIPS ER has announced the awards. In
Maharatna &Navaratna category the 1st Prize winner was OIL INDIA LTD , 2nd prize winner was INDIAN OIL CORPORATION, KOLKATA , 3rd prize winner was NALCO and consolation went to ONGC. In Miniratna category 1st Prize winne r was ECL, 2nd prize winner was BCCL , third prizewinner was CMPDI.
The slogan competition was arranged among the organizations. Organizations sent the best slogan to region for Regional Slogan completion based on the theme “WOMEN IN PURSUIT OF SWACHHA BHARAT”. The winner was selected among Maharatna, Nabaratna and Miniratna altogether. The 1st prize went to IOCL, Kolkata , 2nd prize went to COAL INDIA , 3rd prize went to OIL INDIA LTD and consolation prize went to MSTC. News Letter of WIPS ER was published on this occasion also.

DEVI, Eminent Social Worker was the guest speaker was the occasion. She expressed her views on “WOMEN IN PURSUIT OF SWACHH BHARAT”. Panel discussion was also there . The topic of panel discussion was WHAT IS HOLDING WOMAN BACK?. The panelist were MS PARAMITA MAHAPATRA, Director on the Board of Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd. (IMFA) ; Mrs Bijan Basini Mohanty, Director ,Women Studies Utkal University; Sampa Chakrabarty Lahiri Chief Manager (CC) and CPIO Hindustan Copper Limited. The MODERATOR of the panel was Mr Sujit Mahapatra ,the Founder and Secretary, Bakul Foundat ion. Dance programme was on Swachh Bharat was performed by NALCO children. One quiz competition was also organized as the last item of the Meet.the last item of the Meet.Whole regional meet was summarized by Dr.Samita Mukherjee, Immediate past president of WIPS ER.

WIPS OIL cell celebrated “Children’s Day” on 14.11.2014: OIL WIPS committee members visited ASHADEEP – GIRLS’ school which is run under SARBOSIKSHA ABHIJAN and distributed chocolate, sweets and health drink to 43 students there. WIPS CELL, OIL has distributed sweets, fruits, health drink. They performed Bihu dance, Jhumur dance. Jhumur Dance
WIPS CELL ranked 1st position in BEST ENTERPRISE AWARD (Maharatna &Nabaratna Category) and 3rd position in Slogan completion during regional meet held in Nalco, Bhubaneswar.
OIL INDIA Management has felicitated WIPS OIL Cell for their achievement during Friday Fields Meeting.
Resident Chief Executive , Executive Director (Production) and other senior group general managers were also present in that occasion.
WIPS CELL OIL has organized Handicraft exhibition cum sale from 11th December 2014 to 13th December 2014 at Duliajan with the support of OIL management. The programme was inaugurated by Mr. S N Singh, Resident Chief Executive of OIL INDIA LIMITED.
All hand made items like dress materials – cotton, silk ,muga, woolen garments, sari, ethnic ornaments and home made dry traditional food materials (pitha, naru etc.). The attempt was made to give a platform to the women for enhancing their self employment prospects through exhibiting and selling their products. The attempt was expressed as very successful by the visitors as well as the participants. WIPS members from Guwahati and Kolkata office attended this occasion.
The Forum of Women in Public Sector (WIPS), Guwahati Refinery & GR employees’ NGO GRIEF & U jointly organized a Flood Relief Camp at Raipara Village, near Boko on 19.10.14 which is one of the badly affected villages of recent devastating floods at Assam. Around 450 inhabitants of the village including children, men, women & old aged people were provided essential items viz Rice, Dal, Salt, Mastered Oil, Atta, Biscuits, Mineral Water, Fruits & School stationeries viz. Note Books, Pen, Pencil, Scale, eraser for students as they have not a single copy of school materials to appear in the ensuing annual examination as reported by the local NGOs. Old usable clothes collected from Refinery families were also distributed to the villagers.
All the villagers of Raipara including the President & the Secretary of Village Welfare Samity were happy to receive the relief materials and local youths as well as local NGOs namely, Resamgram & Silarai Jana Kalyan Samiti appreciated the jointly rendered help by WIPS Cell & Grief & U of Guwahati Refinery at the hour of need.
